Foundation Art Divvy and Alhamra Arts Council are Foundation Art Divvy and Alhamra Arts Council are delighted to present “Divvy Film Festival Lahore: Ecologies and Indigenous Traditions,” a collateral to the Lahore Biennale 03.  Please join us for our program of films during the closing week of LB03 on Monday 4 - Tuesday 5 November 2024 at Alhamra Arts Council, 6:00 - 10:30 pm. Foundation Art Divvy presents “Knowledge of the Foundation Art Divvy presents “Knowledge of the Ancients,” curated by Zahra Khan, collateral exhibition to Lahore Biennale 03. 
Installation photographs and films #2  1.	Anushka Rustomji: A visual artist exploring cultural and historical erasure, duality, and transcendence, influenced by mythologies and sacred practices of the Global South.
 2.	Muzzumil Ruheel: “Choose Your Words Carefully” critiques the sanitization of language, using abstract text forms to reflect on unspoken truths and how curated histories shape contemporary understanding.
 3.	Veera Rustomji: “The Phantom Rei(g)ns” examines unburdening from legacy through the Avestan term “avanghana,” connecting geography, history, and the symbolism of the horse in Zoroastrian literature.
 4.	Mohsin Shafi: His installation invites reflection on environmental preservation and social inequalities through performative rituals and soundscapes, aiming for healing and rebalancing within fragmented memories.
 5.	Wardha Shabbir: Her practice embodies the sublimation of struggle and human connection, using nature as a metaphor for endurance while exploring themes of loss, survival, and interconnectedness.
 6.	Risham Syed: “Khayalmala” archives her mother Samina Hasan Syed’s lessons with Ustad Chhotay Ghulam Ali Khan, preserving invaluable raag compositions for future music practitioners.
 7.	Samar F. Zia: Her work addresses climate change and urban flooding through miniature painting, challenging traditional forms to reflect nature’s reclamation and urban loss.
 8.	Sohail Zuberi: “The Beach as Archive” explores the relationship between humans and the ocean using salvaged materials from Karachi’s Sahil beach to reflect on maritime history and ecology.
 9.	Anna Russell & Pei-Chi Lee: Their film “A Seat On Circular Road” highlights manual labor’s rhythms in Pakistan, exploring the sociopolitical impact of architecture and culture on behavior. Sara Pagganwala’s “Bi83 Series” explores the healing properties of bismuth, reflecting on the relationship between materiality, creativity, and the natural world.
 2.	Farida Batool explores the generational transmission of indigenous healing traditions and medicinal plant knowledge, reflecting her grandfather’s hikmat and her mother’s practices.
 3.	Bibi Hajra’s “A Lamentation” mourns the loss of an ancient mother tree amidst urban development, highlighting the displacement caused by relentless change.
 4.	Amra Khan confronts genocide and cultural destruction with a sacred altarpiece made from a repurposed window, using symbols from various traditions to express loss and history.
 5.	Saba Khan documents the Gujjar nomadic community’s migration during COVID, emphasizing their vulnerability amid shifting borders and communal struggles.
 6.	Natasha Malik examines gender, sexuality, and memory through Indo-Persian miniature painting, challenging oppressive narratives surrounding the brown female body.

Foundation Art Divvy’s exhibition “Knowledge o Foundation Art Divvy’s exhibition “Knowledge of the Ancients”, curated by Zahra Khan, was covered by GEO news. The exhibition which opened on 3 October is a collateral event to the Lahore Biennale 03. The exhibition showcases work by 18 exceptional artists and is housed in the historic Barkat Ali Islamia Hall, recently restored by the Walled City of Lahore Authority. It was built originally to be a space of learning.  “Knowledge of the Ancients” responds to forms of knowledge, and looks to indigenous practices of ecologies, ancient history, and mythology & mysticism within South Asia. Through their work artists consider how these types of knowledge are amassed, disseminated and collectively intertwine to form contemporary cultural traditions. Foundation Art Divvy is delighted to have held an Foundation Art Divvy is delighted to have held an Open Studio of Divvy Delfina Residency Artists Anna Russell and Pei-Chi Lee on 29th September. In a discussion with Art Divvy's Creative Director Zahra Khan, the artists spoke about their experiences in Lahore and their individual artistic practices.  This residency exchange has been held in collaboration between Foundation Art Divvy and Delfina Foundation, London with support from the British Council.
